Financial Planning Week
Annually there is a week designated “Financial Planning Week.” During this week in October, FPA San Diego hosts a variety of events to promote Financial Planning. Would you like to get involved? Please email Info@SanDiego.org for more information.

FPA Volunteers gathered at a local television station to answer questions
from San Diegans calling in for Pro-bono financial advice.
Operation Homefront
Through the work of FPA member, Bill Boggs, CFP, the FPA has connected members and military families needing financial counseling." Monthly, FPA members volunteer to counsel a family for a couple of hours. Interested in helping with this effort? Email info@FPASanDiego.org to volunteer once or make this part of your contribution to help our community.
Speakers' Bureau
FPA members who enjoy speaking on financial planning and other related topics can be connected with organizations needing speakers. Some of these speaking opportunities arise through FPA national's program. For example, Com Psych was contracted by the FPA to provide education on specific topics to employees. FPA national also has a list of organizations with whom it has partnered to provide such education and some of these companies have local divisions. Perhaps you have a specialty about which you feel passionate. Email info@SanDiego.org to get on the Speaker's Bureau list.
Jr. Achievement
San Diego FPA has partnered with Jr. Achievement to teach financial concepts to youth in San Diego Schools. Through volunteering at Biz Town or teaching at the school sites, FPA members can help further student financial literacy.

FPA Member volunteered at Junior Achievement's Biz Town.
For example, FPA members rallied 6 bowling teams at Jr. Achievement's annual fundraiser, Big Top Bowl! While building staff morale, mingling with other FPA members and their staff, and generally enjoying an afternoon of fun, 30 people representing the FPA, raised money for Jr. Achievement. 2009 was the first year in which FPA participated at this event. Don't miss it in 2010. Email info@FPASanDiego.org for more details. |
